چکیده

Tan spot disease, which is caused by Pyrenophora tritici-repentis (Ptr), one of the most significant wheat diseases in Kazakhstan, an important wheat-growing region Central Asia. In this study, we aimed to investigate race composition Ptr responsible for tan Kazakhstan through phenotypic and genotypic characterization. During 2019–2020, samples isolates were collected analysis six regions Republic from commercial experimental fields bread durum affected disease. Race classification was based on inoculation bioassay 167 four corresponding differential genotypes, with a PCR assay used identify effector genes. The characterization these showed they belonged different known races (Races 1–4) addition potential atypical that does not fit into current system. We identified two races, Races 1 2, as critical production occur throughout study area. Most exhibited amplification ToxA gene, necrosis-causing effector, consistent results; only 3 4 did show gene. Inoculating sixteen resulted similar 8, according set. However, genetic characterization, possess associated gene expected 8 assignment; therefore, designated them race. According our results, should be both analyses, where possible, adequately capture breadth physiological variation among isolates, possible expansion

Characterization of Pyrenophora tritici-repentis (Tan Spot of Wheat) Races in Baltic States and Romania

Tan spot, caused by the fungus Pyrenophora triticirepentis, is economically important foliar disease in Latvia, Lithuania, and Romania; however, race structure from Baltic States and Romania is not known. In this study, we performed genotypic and phenotypic race characterization of a large collection of P. triticirepentis isolates from these countries to determine race structure and utilize thi...

Tan Spot Disease of Wheat : race characterization

Tan spot, one of the most important diseases of wheat, is caused by Pyrenophora tritici-repentis, a necrotrophic fungus which survives in wheat straw. Methods of disease control include fungicide application, crop rotation, and the use of resistant cultivars; however, in Brazil there are no cultivars in the market with a good level of resistance. In North America, a system of race identificatio...

Reaction of Global Collection of Rye (Secale cereale L.) to Tan Spot and Pyrenophora tritici-repentis Races in South Dakota

Rye (Secale cereale L.) serves as an alternative host of Pyrenophora tritici-repentis (PTR) the cause of tan spot on wheat. Rye is cultivated as a forage or cover crop and overlaps with a significant portion of wheat acreage in the U.S. northern Great Plains; however, it is not known whether the rye crop influences the evolution of PTR races. We evaluated a global collection of 211 rye accessio...

Virulence Phenotyping and Molecular Characterization of a New Virulence Type of Pyrenophora tritici-repentis the Causal Agent of Tan Spot

Pyrenophoratritici-repentis is the causal agent of tan spot. According to their ability to produce necrosis and/or chlorosis on a set of four differential bread wheats, the isolates of this fungus are currently grouped into eight races. When durum wheat genotypes were added to the differential set, a new virulence type was identified in Algeria. The isolates showing this virulence pattern are u...
